Welcome to Gargaara, an apex financial institution dedicated to strengthening Somalia's financial sector and funding legally operating MSMEs. 

Registered with the Central Bank as a Microfinance institution, we provide concessionary financing to banks and microfinance institutions, focusing on sectors like farming, livestock, fishery, and renewable energy. 

Fully funded by the World Bank and DFIs—and wholly owned by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Finance while independently managed—we also offer technical support and business development services to empower MSMEs, especially women, youth, and marginalized groups. 

Through our integrated approach, Gargaara is transforming the Somali economy.

About Gargaara

Gargaara is an apex financial institution licensed by the Ministry of Commerce and registered with the Central Bank of Somalia. 

Established as a dedicated and autonomous agency, we lead financial reform by providing MSMEs with access to capital, expert guidance, and professional financial services that drive inclusivity and sustainable growth. 

Our innovative approach formalizes businesses for effective financial intermediation, benefiting both Participating Financial Intermediaries and MSMEs.

Incorporated in April 2019 by the Ministry of Finance to harness Somalia’s thriving private sector and promote international trade, Gargaara has disbursed $13.6 million since June 2020 through our Small, Medium, and Large Windows, partnering with institutions such as Amal, Premier, IBS, Amana, Daryeel, Sombank, MyBank, and KIMS MFI.
